The Ocean Beaches Cotton Top for Baby is a colorful sleeveless cotton top made in a wrap style with ties at the waist. The top is worked from the bottom up, beginning with some lovely colorwork. You can make this section monotone, neutral, or kick it up a notch by adding a vibrant color or two (ok, 3 is good too :-) ).
I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran for this top because I’ve had a few skeins of this yarn for a while and was waiting for the right project. (I approach yarn like shoes, buy the shoes even if they don’t match anything you have because you can build an outfit around them later, lol). The variety of yarns is amazing (49 colors), and I bought a couple of color packs because I loved the colors and kept resisting the urge…but then they had a sale….and I had a 20% coupon as a reward from my prior purchase from Love Crafts…which they provide everytime you make a purchase….ugh, yes I’m hooked…but I digress….
This pattern works up quickly because I used a series of double and treble crochet to build the torso. The longer stitches also allow for ventilation so that baby doesn’t overheat.
