Springtime Exclusives, National Stress Awareness Month, Industry/Affiliate Updates

There’s a lot going on this month in the crochet world, in this blog post I share noteworthy events and updates for April.
But first, I hope you had a wonderful Passover or Easter if you observe! We had a nice restful day. We had planned to drive down the coast but decided to wait until next weekend when it would be even that much warmer and with less traffic. In the meantime, we continue to wait to hear back from colleges. Most will respond during the next two weeks and as you can imagine, the anticipation is almost too much, lol!
I really enjoy making crochet baskets and was inspired to make the basket above. The response has been very positive and I was asked again about how to keep the basket walls sturdy, so I’ve decided to write a blog post about it. Keep an eye out as it will come out within the next week!

National Stress Awareness Month
Did you know that April is National Stress Awareness Month?
Every April, the Craft Yarn Council raises awareness about stress and the way in which crafts can help us reduce stress in our lives. Everyone experiences stress but the way in which we manage stress, especially long term stress can lead to serious health issues like stroke, heart disease, and cancer.
After my second cancer battle, I sought ways to decrease stress. I already exercised but missed having a creative outlet. I’m fond of photography but was seeking something that I could do in the evenings after work and weekends to relax. I selected crochet because I’ve crocheted on and off over the years and thought this might be a good time to return to it. And boy did I! But I’m saving that story for an upcoming blog post that will be published on April 12 so be sure to stay tuned!
This year’s #StitchAwayStress campaign features stories from fiber lovers across the U.S. who discuss how their craft helps them reduce stress.
